Is running 5kms on a cross trainer the same as 5kms on the treadmill?
I workout on a cross trainer cos it is low impact for my knee joints. Wondering if it is comparable to running the same distance on the treadmill. I have been doing about 4kms in 10mins at about 72 reps per min. Is this about the same for running?

- Not the same.. World record in the 5k is 12:37..
- No it wouldn't be comparable because more effort is required in actual running. You need to push your foot of the ground with each step and lift your leg. I found that I could run 20 minutes on a treadmill at a fairly decent pace, yet when I ran outside, I was lucky to last 10 minutes.
- No it's not the same. It's like cycling too. Cycling 1 mile is not the same as running 1 mile. I'm not sure how to work it out you'd have to google it or something :) x
- well normally about 10 minutes will get you approx 2kms
